What You Do: Verbs and Rhymes taught with help from the book To Root, To Toot, To Parachute by Brian P. Cleary
Description:
This lesson will introduce students to verbs as action words or things they "do." Through physical movement and discussion, students will explore verbs and rhyming patterns. Incorporating movement, health and wellness into an emergent literacy presentation, students will reinforce vocabulary and gain knowledge of the concept of verbs, generally, and explore specific examples. Students will explore rhyming through focusing on the beginning and ending sounds of words. Lesson concludes with students being prompted to create an action-inspired work of art with their teacher after the broadcast ends.

Who’s Them?: A lesson in collective nouns taught with help from the book A Curious Menagerie by Carin Berger
Description:
This lesson will introduce students to collective nouns and the terms we use to describe groups of things. Through interactive movement and full-body engagement, students will reinforce vocabulary and gain knowledge of the concept of collective nouns, generally, and explore specific examples. The lesson will culminate with an art-making activity where they get to create their own collective noun!

Your Community Anew - planning to improve your community with help from the book Maybe Something Beautiful: How art transformed a neighborhood by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell
Description:
Students will think and share ideas for how to improve on their local community - be it their classroom, school, neighborhood or town. Drawing inspiration from books like Maybe Something Beautiful and other sources, students will then be given time to draw and share their own inspired ideas that can later be used to create a classroom mural to encourage others to work for positive changes around them.

Cartoon Poem Creation
Description:
When we think about art we might not think about words, but in this virtual lesson students will see examples of visual poetry, or poems which use the literal structure of a poem to create an image related to the poem. Students will then work together to create a collaborative visual poem as a class.

Adventure with us as we combine literacy, science and art in these enthralling educational offerings. Each lesson is written for specific grade bands and, therefore, is geared toward their unique developmental needs. We can also provide extension activities and suggested resources to captivate our explorers beyond the distance learning classroom.
Rooted in Place: the hidden world of plant roots!
Description:
Students will dig into the virtual dirt through this lesson exploring the hidden world of tree and plant roots! We’ll discuss the various ways that roots help trees and plants grow and survive. Then using the power of wind, students will make a well-rooted art project.

Description:
This lesson explores the life cycle of the butterflies and introduces students to some of the mysteries and unknowns that scientists are still trying to figure out. Students get to act as scientists as they engage in a scientific investigation before having the chance to create an artistic hypothesis of their very own!

Description:

Mysteries of Monarch Migration
Description:
Learn about the jaw-dropping journey, lasting thousands of miles, that these delicate critters take from as far north as Canada all the way to Mexico each November. Students then use what they learned to create a migrating monarch of their very own!

A-MAZE-ing Ants!
Description:
Venture underground as we explore the secret complexities of life as an ant! Students will learn about the often-massive ant colonies that exist below our feet and what goes on there.

Buzzing About Local Bees!
Description:
We all know about honeybees, but do you know that there are 4,000 different types of bees native to North America? In this virtual lesson we learn and explore what makes a bee a bee and why it’s important that they come in so many shapes and sizes.

Hive Creation
Description:
Students will learn about the inspiring and exact ways that honeybees create their intricate bee hives. Through an exploration of geometry and engineering, students will try out their skills as a hive-constructor while learning all the various jobs a single bee might have throughout her lifetime.

Dance Bees, Dance!
Description:
Focusing on the ways humans communicate and share information with each other, students will learn about the astounding ways that honeybees do so with dance. After exploring the incredible ways they use their bodies to “talk,” students will play a game of physical telephone to try their hand at “dance-communication!”

Camouflage Creation
Description:
Students will explore the often hard-to-find critters who are experts at camouflage and discuss the benefits of blending in. Students will create their own camouflaged creation and will compete against each other to be crowned the Captain of Camouflage!

In this ever-growing series of interactive virtual programs students will learn about the lives, techniques, and tools of various famous visual artists and/or some of the major art movements throughout history. Students will then create their own inspired work based on the featured artist or movement.
