Karen Snouffer creates abstract sculpture, collage, painting, and installation by exploring tensions felt in visual and physical movement. She mines playful contradiction to expand both anxiety and beauty. Materiality is a powerful force, as is the merging of unexpected, non-traditional media with more conventional materials and techniques. Her two- and three-dimensional works speak a common language, which creates a sense of construction and building in fractured space.

Snouffer has exhibited in Miami at Aqua Art Fair/Art Basel, Laundromat Art Space and Art Center, South Florida; The Workspace and Fashion Moda, New York; Cleveland Center for Contemporary Art; Aronoff Center for the Arts, Cincinnati; also in Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Epernay, France.  She has been a resident fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center, Provincetown, MA, and an Artist in Residence at Headlands Center for the Arts, Sausalito, CA. She has received seven Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Grants and a McGregor Foundation Global Exchange Grant for work in France.  She is represented by Hammond Harkins Gallery, Columbus, Ohio. Her work is in the Girls Club Collection, Sun Life of Canada, The Greater Columbus Convention Center and numerous private collections.

She received both her BS in Art Education and her MFA at The Ohio State University and is a Professor Emerita at Kenyon College with a studio and residence in Gambier, Ohio.
