Art and Culture Center/Hollywood Temporarily Closes Its Facilities

Updated: May 12, 2020

The Arts Remain a Source of Hope and Inspiration at this Difficult Time

Dear Friend of the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood: In just a few short weeks, the COVID-19 coronavirus has disrupted our daily lives in ways we never imagined. For the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood, this means temporarily closing our galleries and performance theater to the public until it is deemed safe enough to resume our programming in these facilities. Our administrative offices remain open as we work to amend our programming to accommodate this temporary shutdown. Our out-of-school education programs are currently on a pre-scheduled, two-week break. Parents and caregivers can rest assured that our Education staff will prioritize the health and safety of their children as we consider when to resume these programs. We will contact these families directly with further details in the coming week. We are hopeful that the precautions being taken through social distancing, increased sanitizing, and staying in our homes will help contain the coronavirus outbreak and allow us to re-open in the very near future. These coming weeks and perhaps months will require us all to call upon various coping skills for meeting the unique challenge of being socially isolated from large groups, such as our exhibition openings and live performances. Though our galleries are closed, we want to remind you that the arts continue to live within us and around us, perhaps especially in times like this.

In the relative quiet of our homes, many of us will turn to the arts as a resource of hope and staying connected to the richness of the human experience. We may do this by reading books, watching films and listening to music, or by practicing our own form of creative expression: drawing, painting, photography, singing, writing poetry, playing an instrument, and much, much more.

The Art and Culture Center/Hollywood works year round to make the arts present in our daily lives through our exhibitions and the many education programs we provide for children and families. Our mission remains the same as we endure this difficult moment – to be a resource for creativity, inspiration, and inclusion in our community. There comes a time in every generation when we are asked to pull together for the greater good. This is our moment. We look forward to having our facilities open and welcoming you once again. In the meantime, we ask that you stay safe and remain supportive of this wonderful community we call home.
